This was delivered by Ustadh Amin Buxton in Liverpool on the night of the 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1439.
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
All praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. And salutations and greetings upon our Master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.
I intend to study and teach, take and give a reminder, take and give benefit, take and give advantage, to encourage the holding fast to the book of Allah and the way of his messenger, and calling to guidance and directing towards good hoping for the countenance of Allah and His pleasure, proximity and reward, transcendent is He.
Alhamdulilah. It is Allah’s tawfiq to be here in this gathering. Alhamdulilah. And, to remember the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him) on the night of Friday and on the night of his birth.
Allah (Exalted is He) says in the Qur’an: Know that the Messenger of God is in you. [49:7]
In the first instance, He (Exalted is He) is addressing the Companions (May God be pleased with them) after teaching them lessons in adab (etiquette) in the surah (chapter).
Abdullah bin Rawaha, the great poet of the Messenger of God, witnessed this and said:
In us is the Messenger of God
He is with us reciting his book to us like the good is coming just as the light of dawn splits over the horizon
He showed us guidance after blindness
How many of us were blind until the Messenger of God’s light came and showed us the path and our hearts have absolute certainty that what he (prayers and peace be upon him) said was true?
In the first instance, Allah (Exalted is He) was addressing the Companions but in the second instance, He (Exalted is He) is addressing every single one of us because the Qur’an is timeless.
“Know that the Messenger of God is in you.” – Qur’an [49:7}
Every one of us should ask: Is the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him) in us? Is he (prayers and peace be upon him) in us with his Sunnah as we live our lives? Is he (prayers and peace be upon him) in us with his sirah? Do our lives resemble his life (prayers and peace be upon him)? Is he (prayers and peace be upon him) the example and role model for us? That is what we need in these gatherings; we need the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him) in our hearts.
He (prayers and peace be upon him) said: If the Dajjal comes and I am in you, I will take care of him.
If the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him) is in your hearts, in your life, in your days and nights; there is nothing to fear about the greatest fitna (tribulation) of all time if the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him) is in us. He (prayers and peace be upon him) will take care of the Dajjal for us.
Allah (Exalted is He) also said: “Allah will not punish them when you are in them.” [8:33]
Allah’s anger will not descend upon people in whose hearts is the Messenger of God (prayers and peace be upon him).
May Allah (Exalted is He) bless us such that he (prayers and peace be upon him) enters our hearts, enters our lives, is planted deep in the hearts of our children, and our children’s children, and our children’s children til the Last Day. May we be with him (prayers and peace be upon him) in this life, at the point of death, in the grave, on the Day of Judgement under his Banner of Praise we be with him, we enter Paradise with him, we cross the Bridge with him and we be with him in Firdous al’Ala.
Allahumma Amin
